The East Riding Wicstun Centre - a new £900,000 library and customer service centre - officially opened in Market Weighton, East Riding on 3 March 2008.

With a library stock of 11,000 books and other items, it is hoped the development will increase the number of annual visits to the library from 16,000 to more than 35,000.

Residents in the area can also now use the new customer service centre to access more than 500 services provided by the council and its partners arvato government services.

Caroline Hopkins, Director of Operations and Client Services at arvato, said: "The Wicstun Centre gives residents state-of-the-art access to considerably larger library facilities as well as wide-ranging council services. This will be a real asset for the local community - and we're looking forward to working with East Riding of Yorkshire Council to deliver key services from this new facility."
