arvato AG, the company selected by the East Riding of Yorkshire Council to deliver its groundbreaking Public Private Partnership agreement, has confirmed plans for a new regional business centre in Willerby, providing a hub for its job creation activity in the region.

The centre is expected to be operational by October this year. It represents a key part of arvato's commitment to the East Riding. The total capacity of the centre will be nearly 200 seats. Before the end of 2007, the company is seeking to employ up to 100 new recruits.

The company – a leading international provider of business process outsourcing (BPO) services to major public and private sector organisations – wants to establish the facility as a centre of excellence, providing the latest learning and development support to hundreds of people keen to develop a career in the BPO sector.

Three arvato product areas will be delivered from the centre: arvato finance provides billing services for well-known global internet companies; arvato loyalty services operates back office customer-loyalty programs for companies including several leading car manufacturers; and arvato services CRM provides Europe-wide service-centre assistance for well-known customers across multiple sectors.

Customers include companies from the global travel, financial services and network services sectors, who will be piloting back office programmes at the regional business centre.

Matthias Mierisch, Chief Executive Officer of arvato UK & Ireland, said: "The regional business centre is a significant investment by arvato in the East Riding and a symbol of our commitment to the region. It provides the necessary infrastructure for the level and type of employment that we want to create here. Our goal has always been to bring high quality business to the region in order to deliver sustainable employment for the future."

Nigel Pearson, Chief Executive of East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said: "The council set challenging commitments for arvato both in the delivery and development of services for residents and in contributing to the economic development of the East Riding.

"This latest announcement is good news. It further cements the partnership and represents a welcome boost to the business landscape across the East Riding."
