Being a good citizen

Citizenship is a core value of arvato government services and one that we embed in our day-to-day activities serving the local citizens of our public-private partnerships, for example arranging home visits for benefits claimants and piloting our innovative Customer Access in Schools project.

On top of this genuine customer focus, we undertake a wide number of other important initiatives in our key role as a member of the local community:

East Riding of Yorkshire

• Working with local training providers and council-owned organisations to provide apprenticeships for young people in the Print and Design, and ICT departments.
• Taking on interns for 3 to 6-month intensive work placements.
• Providing work experience placements to school students, for example in ICT and with Transformation and Change team.
• Donating funds to local East Riding schools, including a significant sum for a college to upgrade its ICT suite and provide every teacher with a new PC.
• Working with the East Riding Local Strategic Partnership and joining its planned Business Reference Group.
• Occupying a seat on the board of the Hull University Business School.

Sefton

• Offering apprenticeships in ICT, business administration and customer service to young people from across the Sefton borough each year.
• Offering 8-week internships to local higher education students, with longer placements planned.
• Working with Education Business Partnership, Sefton to provide 2-week work placements for school students; to offer workplace visits and placements to Diploma students; and to put forward arvato managers to mentor young people in schools.
• Participating in the Sefton@Work programme (financed by the government’s Future Jobs Fund) to offer 6-month paid work placements for long-term unemployed young people aged between 18 and 25.
